The Atlantic has been running a series about World War II in photos, and this week their gallery covers Women at War. It's impressive and very broad, everything from French resistance fighters to Nazi concentration-camp guards. The one below is Russian girl sniper, Lyudmila Pavlichenko, who, by the end of the war, had killed a confirmed 309 Germans -- the most successful female sniper in history.
