Sky Movies Magazine: Evelyn Salt comes off like a female James Bond or Jason Bourne. Was choosing this kind of role a conscious decision for you?
Angelina Jolie: I had joked about it with Amy Pascal, who was the producer of the film, because when Daniel Craig was doing the first Bond, she called me and I made a joke that I wanted to play Bond. And then almost two years later she called and said, “I think I found it!” But in fact Salt is very different from Bond and very different from Bourne; hopefully we took good elements of both of them and found something very new. Even with the fighting styles – we really wanted to focus them not just on the ‘girl’ version of the male fights, but actually finding her a way of fighting that was unique on its own. So we did our best!
