Only three of this summer's programs stand out to me as having action-heroine potential. They are:

    * The Nine Lives of Chloe King
    * Alphas
    * Falling Skies

The Nine Lives of Chloe King is based on a series of young adult books. A girl falls from a building onto concrete. No one should be able to survive the fall -- but Chloe emerges from it unscathed. Then strange thinjgs start to happen, supernatural events, and secret societies begin to emerge. I recommend avoiding the Amazon.com page, since it contains probably the single-biggest spoiler I've ever seen.

Alphas is a show about a team of superheroes. Could be good, but I've been disappointed in so many similar shows, from Heroes to Misfits.

Falling Skies looks promising. It's a Steven Spielberg-produced show in which the earth has been conquered by aliens, and human rebels begin to rise up. Doesn't sound too original, but it looks to have top-notch talent behind it.

I'm looking forward to Falling Skies - Marc Guggenheim has had some involvement in it so it might be akin to his Resurrection series hje writes.

Not sure about Alphas - I think the bubble has well and truly burst for superhero TV shows, however I do think Misfits is funny - sort of like Skins meets Heroes - and Robert Sheehan's absence from the third series will be felt.

I found Misfits frustrating. Every time it started to feel like it was going somewhere, the rug got pulled out from under us. Remember the flash of the future where whatsisname was wearing a superhero costume? Oh that was just a costume party. Remember the videotape from the future that showed them being interviewed on television? That was an alternate reality anyway.

And yeah, without Robert Sheehan, where will the show get its energy?

Found a trailer for The Nine Lives of Chloe King. Could be great; everything depends on the writing.

Perhaps borderline as well (it's not exactly action-packed), but the one I want to see is the remake of Prime Suspect, with Maria Bello in the iconic role made famous by Helen Mirren.

Quote:
Based on the critically acclaimed British television series of the same name, "Prime Suspect" has been redeveloped for American audiences by writer Alexandra Cunningham ("Desperate Housewives," "NYPD Blue"), director Peter Berg (NBC's "Friday Night Lights") and stars Maria Bello ("A History of Violence") as tough-as-nails Detective Jane Timoney. Timoney finds that being a homicide detective in New York City is tough enough and having to contend with a male-dominated police department to get respect makes it that much tougher. She's an outsider who has just transferred to a new precinct dominated by an impenetrable clique of a boys' club. Timoney has her own vices too¿with a questionable past¿and she tends to be forceful, rude and reckless. But she's also a brilliant cop who keeps her eye on one thing: the prime suspect. Also starring are Aidan Quinn ("Unknown"), Brian O'Byrne ("Flash Forward"), Tim Griffin ("Star Trek"), Kirk Acevedo ("Fringe"), Joe Nieves ("How I Met Your Mother"), Damon Gupton ("The Last Airbender") and Peter Gerety ("Blue Bloods").
