Ok, here's a quick rundown of titles which are currently sitting in the "to be watched" pile, and will be viewed in the coming months with an eye to getting them reviewed on the site. Links go to the IMDB page for the film. No guarantees on when these will go up, and I reserve the right to not cover them here at all, if they turn out to be inconsequential!
A little way further down the line, there'll be Hua Mulan, the Chinese live-action version of the Mulan story, and I am going to complete our series of Andy Sidaris reviews. I also think 2011 will see me checking out some Pinky Violence films from Japan, which should be...interesting!
As ever, suggestions and nominations are welcome.

Silver. Takashi Miike - one of our favorites at GWG Towers - directs Shinobu Kandori as Jun, a female pro wrestler who takes her job very seriously, lovingly tackling her opponent to assuage the drudgery of the masses. Until her family is murdered by the evil underworld gang, Paradise - and now she only lives for revenge!
Amusingly, this keeps showing up on the cable schedule... But the film actually being shown is always Sliver, the Sharon Stone turkey. Finally buckled and got a copy of the right film. :-)

Norwegian horror film Cold Prey and it's sequel Cold Prey 2 are being looked into. To borrow the IMDB synopsis for the former:
Quote:
Jannicke, Morten Tobias, Eirik, Mikael and Ingunn are on a snowboarding vacation in Jotunheimen. They are forced to take shelter in an abandoned hotel when Morten Tobias breaks his leg and their car is too far away for them to reach within nightfall. They quickly discover that the hotel was closed in the seventies due to the disappearance of the managers' son. Unknown to them, someone is still living in the hotel, and getting home, or even surviving the stay, isn't as easy as they believe.
It appears to be quite a solid entry in the "Final Girl" genre of horror, but really kicks into GWG territory in the sequel, for which I've read comparisons between the heroine and Ripley in more than one place. And tell me the poster below doesn't pique your interest:
Then there's Assault Girls, from director Mamoru Oshii, who previously gave us Avalon. This appears to be similar, both in location and approach: set inside a virtual-reality combat game, it hits a visual home-run, but with questions over the plotting. Still, at only 70 minutes, doesn't seem like it'll tax my patience too much. Now, if you'll excuse me, I just have to explain to Chris why there's a file called "assgirls.jpg" on my desktop. :-)

Finally got subs for Mutant Girls Squad, the latest piece of insanity (co-)directed by the man who gave us Machine Girl. Ok, that' s got as in "ended up having to help create the damn things," but there we go. :-)
And while we're in the far East, what about some Indonesian-xploitation, with the wonderfully-titled Virgins From Hell?

Out of the box from Japan marked "WTF?" Gothic and Lolita Psycho. Synopsis: "Yuki, a girl who lives at home in peace until one day a unit of assassins breaks in and slaughters her mother. In order to reveal the truth behind the seemingly senseless murder, Yuki transforms herself into a demon of vengeance by donning gothic lolita clothing, wielding a parasol as a deadly weapon, and executing the guilty in the name of God." What? You want a trailer?
What? You want another, more serious trailer?

This poster for Lethal Angels is one of the worst cut and paste jobs I've seen, and it bugs me every time I see it. It looks like Cherrie Ying is either a snakewoman or is taking cover behind a headless woman whose headless-ness she's trying to cover up with her hair. "If anyone comes by, maybe they won't notice. If they do, I've got this shotgun. Unless the woman next to me has designs on it." Obviously this is not her body, and implying there's any nudity on her part is false advertising. If there were any, based on this poster, I'd be aversive to it because I'd expect her to look like a mutant.
Not that I particularly recommend this movie (I gave it 6/10), its fairly trashy, and I only saw it for Cherrie Ying, but here's a better poster and a couple screenshots:

My next, currently ongoing, subbing project is Sukeban Hunters, a slab of pinky violence:
I'm also writing up a piece on the Millennium trilogy of films, with it's 5'4", 90-pound action heroine:
