It seems like the Underworld series will be returning to its roots, after a part three which largely ditched Kate Beckinsale in favor of an "origins" story with Michael Sheen (which, I must admit, we enjoyed much more than expected). The following synopsis for part 4 has surfaced:
Quote:
After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.

It's to be directed by Swedes Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, and is scheduled for a 3D release in January 2012. Marlind directed Storm, which we have lurking in the unwatched pile, but has had some decent reviews. However. all we need to see is lots of Beckinsale kicking butt, and we'll be there [just not in 3D!].

sounds great hope its as action past as rise of the lycans. the other underworld flicks were hella boring but rise of the lycans was such a fun ride.

HD Trailer:

Retitled: Underworld: Awakening
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1496025/
Release: 20 January 2012

Not wildly optimistic, but I may see it if the reviews are good. Liked the first one ok. Second one not. Third I didn't bother with since Kate Beckinsale wasn't in it and nothing in the trailer caught my eye.

I am glad to see Ms.Beckinsale back in the saddle for this one, whilst Rhona Mitra also has her charms the prequel "Rise Of the Lycans" was a poor addition to the series.

I like the vibe that both the first 2 Underworld movies had but I would prefer if Selene (Kate Beckinsale) would be much more much more at risk of serious injury or death.......perhaps taking a silver bullet or knife in the gut....in both the movies Selene appears in she rarely gets injured or scratched that much and that too me takes out any tension.

Give me a Selene who is at risk of serious injury or death.....not one who comes out pretty unscathed even with her fights with "big boss" vampire!

I guess what I'm saying is make it grittier!

its true. i don't even remember her costume ever being damaged in battle or her even having a bloody nose after all the hits she endures. i will say though that i loved rise of the lycans and thought it was the best out of the underworld series. it seems like the writers are following th intense action that movie had with this one and i can't wait to see kate in action.
