Israelis deny female soldier 'tank-top strip-tease'

A newspaper claims a female Israeli soldier did a striptease on top of a tank to attract Palestinian youths, then took a pistol from her knickers and shot at them. Israeli authorities say the allegations made in a Palestinian daily paper are completely ridiculous.

The Al-Hayat al-Jadedah daily says the soldier fired at the youths, killing two and injuring nine others. Israeli authorities describe the report as lies. The paper claims: "The occupation is using naked women to hunt down intifada youth. She started to take off her clothes in front of the demonstrators until she was nearly naked. Some of the protestors said they were disgusted by it, while others said the Zionist soldier made rude gestures at them. When they approached to throw stones at her, the female soldier whipped out a pistol from her underwear and shot at their heads."

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) initially refused to comment on the report, but later a spokesman told The Jerusalem Post: "There is no truth to these lies, which are the product of Palestinian incitement and propaganda." Palestinian media have in the past broadcast unsubstantiated claims that the IDF had dropped poisoned sweets and depleted uranium shells from airplanes.
